How to play an M3U playlist on Android TV and Fire TV

Install a player, add your M3U link and watch your channels on the big screen.

An M3U playlist is a simple text file, usually a web link, that lists live channels or videos. Media servers, network TV tuners and many TV services can give you one. FlickX plays it on Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV with a remote-friendly guide.

1. Install FlickX on your TV

Install the free Downloader app from your TV’s app store and follow the steps on the Android TV or Fire TV install page. The first 14 days are free.

2. Open the device portal

Open FlickX. The TV shows a QR code, a MAC address and a device key. Scan the code with your phone, or go to Manage my device on any computer and sign in with the MAC address and key.

3. Add the M3U link

Choose Add a playlist, then M3U link, and paste the full playlist URL. The playlist appears on the TV within about a minute.

Tips for large playlists

  • FlickX is built for big catalogues: tens of thousands of channels and films load in the background without slowing the TV down.
  • Use Favourites and the category list to keep the channels you watch close at hand.
  • The TV guide and catch-up need an Xtream Codes login; with an M3U link you get the channel list without a guide. See Xtream Codes or M3U.

Where M3U playlists come from

FlickX doesn’t include channels or content. Use a source you are allowed to use, such as your own media server or a network tuner. See Where to find legal content.
